Front End Disassembly

Taking apart the front end of your car:

Taking apart the front end entails removing both front fenders, the front bumper, and the lower valence skirt. You can also remove the headlights to make getting at some of the fasteners less painful. You may want to perform this if you are planning on replacing your radiator, radiator hoses, rebuilding your front suspension or brakes.

If this is the first time you have ever done this, you will experience snapped bolts, guaranteed. This means drilling out holes, re-tapping, and fabricating new components. Chief among these are tie-down bars that are used to hold different body panels to the frame or each other. During my dis-assembly, two of these tie-down bars were damaged beyond repair. I decided to fabricate new ones using stainless steel.
