Re-sealing the front fenders:
When you remove the front fenders you find that where they are connected to the body frame is a long rubber strip. This strip prevents rattle between the fender panels and the frame. My rubber strips were extremely old, cracked, and peeling. I decided to replace them by purchasing a roll of adhesive backed rubber from McMaster Carr. I also replaced the rubber dowel pins (2 per fender) as my old ones were giving up.
You need to first strip the old rubber using a gasket scraper and some alcohol. Then lay out your new rubber and make holes for the bolts. I used a leather punch to make the holes cleanly.
