Preventing oil leaks from the oil pan:
I re-sealed the oil-pan as the seal looked ugly and sloppy when I got the engine. I used Toyota brand RTV sealant. The hardest part of this job is scraping off all the old RTV, the cleaner the contact surfaces the better the new seal will be. Also, the Toyota RTV will start curing quite fast, so you need to get a nice big bead all the way around and the pan seated quite quickly or you will have to do it all over again.
